Black Card Airport Lounge

The Black Card, both the Barclays Visa Black Card and the American Express Centurion card, both offer Private airport lounge benefits at both domestic and international airports.  The Visa Black Card goes through the Priority Pass network to gain its members access.  Members must hold a Priority Pass card with their Visa Black Card to gain access into the VIP airport lounge.  Visa Card holders must complete the Priority Pass application, but all Priority Pass fees are waived.

Centurion cardholders do not go through Priority Pass and just show their Centurion Card to gain access  The Centurion credit card will work at all VIP airport lounges, while the Visa Black Card will only work at a select few airport lounges.  Even though The Barclays Visa Black Card indicates that their members have access to 350 VIP airports, many of these airport lounges no longer offer access for Visa Black Card holders.  Visa Black Card holders will get denied at the front door, while AMEX Black Card members will be able to experience VIP treatment.
If you’re interested in a Black card for its travel and Airport Lounge benefits then you should consider the AMEX Black card instead of the Visa Black Card.  The AMEX black card offers much more travel perks and many more airport lounges will accept the AMEX Centurion Card.

Mastercard Black Card also offers the Airport Lounge benefit, which is also offered through the Priority Pass Airport Lounge Network.  The Mastercard Black Card provides eligible MasterCard cardholders with access to more than 450 VIP lounges in major airports in over 75 countries worldwide. No matter what airline, what frequent flyer membership, or class of ticket bought, eligible cardholders will enjoy all of the convenience of an airport lounge.

All Black Cards offer unlimited VIP Airport Lounge visits, while the Visa Black Card will charge an extra $27 per additional guest that is brought into the VIP Lounge.

How does the Visa and Mastercard Black Card Priority Pass work?

Before traveling, cardholders can log on to and view a directory of airport lounges available worldwide. Eligible cardholders present their Priority Pass membership cards to gain admission for themselves; guests are permitted at the discretion of each lounge. Cardholders will enjoy complimentary refreshments, newspapers, and television. In addition, there is access to business facilities including phone, fax, conference and Internet facilities (where available).

Please keep in mind that you do not have to be a black card cardholder to be a part of the priority pass network.  Priority Pass also offers a membership to clients that want to take advantage of having VIP treatment when traveling.  Priority Pass charges members a $99 annual fee plus $27 member visit fee.  Members will also be charged $27 per accompanying guest.
